MUSTO
Company founder Keith MUSTO first found fame when he won a medal in the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. He narrowly missed out on gold in the Flying Dutchman class and returned home with silver. As an entrepreneur, he specialises in performance-optimised sailwear, which is reflected in constant development and technical precision work.

MUSTO technical clothing
- What makes functional clothing special? -
To this day, MUSTO has consistently lived up to its claim of making the best performance-optimised sailwear and and has established itself as a top clothing brand on the sailing scene. Whether HPX, MPX, LPX, or the MUSTO-Breathable series, all of the garments in a collection have been tested to withstand the toughest weather conditions on the water.
HPX
Provides the best performance with regard to durability with simultaneous respiratory activity. Ideal for offshore sailing. HPX fabric consists of a 3-layer Pro Shell laminate and is based on a Gore-Tex® Ocean Technology® membrane and a Gore™ Microgrid Backer. The upper material is extremely resistant, the inner material is very soft and comfortable. The breathable microporous membrane is laminated between these layers. In order to prevent the microscopically small pores of the membrane sticking together, it is protected by an additional, oil-repellent layer.
MPX
Universally wearable, offers best results in the interplay of breathability, durability and wearing comfort. Ideal for offshore, coastal and regatta sailing. A lighter version of the Gore-Tex® Ocean Technology® membrane is used in the MPX fabric. Again, the Pro Shell laminate consists of three layers: a solid supporting material on the top, a polyamide on the inside, and a membrane including the oleophobic (oil-repellent) protective layer.
LPX and LPX Dynamic
These fabrics have higher vapor permeability than HPX and MPX technologies, meaning they are more breathable. LPX uses the Paclite® membrane in the form of a 3-layer laminate. The membrane lies between two layers of light polyamide fabric. Paclite® has so far been mainly known for alpine sports. LPX fabric garments are lightweight, waterproof and durable. LPX has been designed for use in warmer climates, for example in the Caribbean, for charter sailors and motor boaters.
LPX Dynamic - The choice for those who want the best possible freedom of movement! With LPX Dynamic, an increased proportion of stretch materials are sewn into the garments, as well as the above-described properties of the LPX fabric. Highly recommended for demanding and regatta sailors.
Solent
A light and supple fabric made of high-quality 2-layer laminate. The Gore-Tex® membrane is coated with an oil-repellent substance, which makes it impossible to clog the microfine pores. Ideal for motor boating, sailing in warmer areas or for chartering.
BR1
"Breathable" through the classic wicking (transportation of moisture). Consists of two layers: the outside is a polyamide, the inside is a PU material that carries moisture to the outside and keeps the body dry. In terms of breathability and watertightness, BR1 materials are far superior. Designed for sailing in coastal areas or in sudden bad weather.
BR2
BR2 - Two layors, 2 technologies: Layer 1 is microporous, layer 2 is hydrophilic. BR2 garments have a higher steam pass-through factor and a far higher water tightness than BR1 garments, "Standard Breathable". However, the values are not as high as in the range of HPX, MPX or LPX technologies as described above. Ideal for coastal and day sailing or charter trips..
Evolution
Function meets design. Here, modern material technologies are combined with a visually appealing design concept. Clothes from the Evolution collection are always the right choice for fashionable wind and weather clothing.
